Code execution via unvalidated SMM memory boundary
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Improper input validation in InsydeH2O's H19WMIHandlerSmm allows local users with high privileges to execute arbitrary code. The HP-specific SMM handler fails to validate a memory boundary before operating on attacker-controlled input, but Insyde has not disclosed the exact buffer, request field, or memory operation. Exploitation requires local access and high privileges, and successful code execution crosses the firmware component's security boundary with confidentiality, integrity, and availability consequences.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
