Local privilege escalation via raw disk I/O
Published Jun 21, 2026 · Updated Jun 21, 2026
Improper access control in AOMEI Partition Assistant 10.10.0 and 10.10.1 allows local users to gain privileges through ampa10.sys. The driver exposes the \.\wowrt device to standard users and forwards raw disk reads and writes from kernel mode, bypassing Windows checks on protected physical disks. Standard local access is sufficient to alter filesystem structures, boot records, registry hives, or privileged files by sector offset.
