Stored XSS via unescaped profile location attribute
Published Aug 1, 2026 · Updated Aug 1, 2026
Stored XSS in the wpForo profile renderer before 3.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in profile visitors' browsers. The public participant profile renderer inserts the stored Location value into a Google Maps anchor href without HTML-attribute escaping, so surviving quotes create event-handler attributes. Subscriber-level access, three approved forum posts under default antispam settings, and a visitor opening the profile are required; script runs in that visitor's session, including an administrator's session.
