Unauthenticated membership grant via forged PayPal IPN
Published Jul 24, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026
Improper authorization in Metagauss ProfileGrid before 5.9.9.7 allows remote attackers to grant paid group membership via forged PayPal IPN data. The public group page's IPN action trusts attacker-controlled payment_status and custom fields without PayPal verification, then writes group and payment-status user metadata. Exploitation requires a configured paid group, PayPal settings, and a published group page; it grants membership without payment but does not change the user's WordPress role.
