Unauthenticated privilege escalation via unrestricted group selection
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Privilege escalation in Metagauss ProfileGrid before 5.9.9.8 allows remote attackers to obtain a configured privileged WordPress role. The front-end registration path accepts an attacker-selected group identifier without restricting the target group, then assigns the new account that group's associated role. A public registration page and a group mapped to a privileged role are required; an Administrator-mapped group yields complete site control.
