CVE-2026-12661

Authenticated device crash via web request overflow

Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026

Stack overflow in FactoryTalk Historian Machine Edition Series B 5.202 and Series C 7.101 allows remote authenticated users to crash it. The web interface processes crafted authenticated requests without adequate stack-buffer bounds enforcement, producing overflow conditions. The attacker must be network-adjacent and highly privileged; exploitation interrupts historian service by leaving the embedded module unresponsive.
