Pre-sandbox code execution via untrusted environment loading
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
OS command injection in Google Gemini CLI before 0.39.1 and run-gemini-cli before 0.1.22 allows remote attackers to execute code on CI hosts. In headless mode, automatic workspace trust loads an untrusted .gemini/.env file, and the container launcher processes its values without neutralizing shell metacharacters before starting the sandbox. A workflow must run Gemini CLI headlessly against attacker-controlled repository contents; successful exploitation executes commands on the runner host outside the sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
