Authenticated PHP object injection via serialized field data
Published Jul 10, 2026 · Updated Jul 10, 2026
PHP object injection in Drupal Formatter Field before 2.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject objects through field values. The formatter_field module stores formatter data as PHP-serialized strings and unserializes field values that can be written directly without first excluding malicious objects. Exploitation requires permission to edit an entity carrying the field plus nondefault unrestricted JSON:API writes, or another path that permits direct field-value edits.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
