Code execution via fail-open Lambda deserialization
Published Jul 3, 2026 · Updated Jul 3, 2026
Unsafe Lambda deserialization in Keras before 3.12.3 and 3.13.0 through 3.14.1 allows attackers to execute code via crafted configurations. Lambda.from_config treats an unset safe_mode value as false outside SafeModeScope, so func_load accepts attacker-controlled marshalled bytecode. A victim process must deserialize the crafted Lambda configuration through an affected direct or legacy call path; successful exploitation runs OS-level code with that process's privileges.
