Unauthenticated account takeover via empty reset code
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Authentication bypass in pravel SignUp & SignIn 1.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over WordPress accounts. The unauthenticated pravel_change_password AJAX handler loosely compares a supplied reset_activation_code with forgot_email metadata, so two empty values pass without a nonce or capability check. A crafted request can set an attacker-chosen password for any account, including an administrator, after which the account accepts the new credential.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
