Local file disclosure via symlinked diagnostic logs
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Link following in Canonical Ubuntu Pro Client before 37.3 allows local users to read administrator-owned files through collected logs. The pro collect-logs framework accepts predictable log paths in user-controlled directories, follows symbolic links, and archives their targets without checking file type or ownership. Exploitation requires an administrator to run the command after link placement; the readable archive exposes target contents but provides no file modification or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
