Unauthenticated account deactivation via unsigned Stripe webhooks
Published Jun 18, 2026 · Updated Jun 18, 2026
Missing authorization in wp.insider Simple Membership 4.7.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to deactivate member accounts via Stripe webhooks. When stripe-webhook-signing-secret is unset, the wp_loaded webhook dispatcher routes charge.refunded events to the legacy handler, which trusts the supplied subscription ID and marks the matching account inactive. Unauthenticated network access to the webhook and an unconfigured signing secret are required; the result is account deactivation plus cancellation side effects.
