Unauthenticated memory exhaustion via unbounded message buffering
Published Jul 2, 2026 · Updated Jul 2, 2026
Resource exhaustion in open62541 1.4.0 through 1.4.16 and 1.5.0 through 1.5.4 allows remote attackers to exhaust server memory. The binary server channel accepts a UInt32 endpointUrl length and retains incomplete GetEndpoints chunks without enforcing message or chunk limits. The pre-session path requires neither authentication nor encryption and interrupts service as memory is consumed; master is also affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
