Subscriber-level menu tampering via unchecked AJAX update
Published Aug 2, 2026 · Updated Aug 2, 2026
Improper access control in ZooTemplate Clever Mega Menu for Visual Composer 1.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter menu items. The save_clever_menu_item AJAX action accepts attacker-selected item and menu identifiers, content, and settings without checking a nonce or user capability. Subscriber access and an existing navigation item are sufficient; successful requests overwrite two metadata records rendered in public navigation after an administrator enables the menu.
