CVE-2026-11792Network attack vector

Memory corruption via unchecked password-mask copy

Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026

Heap buffer overflow in 389 Directory Server allows remote authenticated users to corrupt heap memory and audit log output. The create_masked_entry_string() function in auditlog.c copies a fixed-length mask into a heap buffer sized only for a shorter cleartext password, overrunning the allocation. Triggering requires enabled audit logging plus non-default CLEAR password storage or a compromised replication peer; reported impact is limited to memory and log corruption.
