Man-in-the-middle via disabled xDS TLS verification
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Improper certificate validation in LY Corporation Armeria armeria-xds before 1.41.0 allows remote attackers to intercept upstream traffic. In xds/src/main/java/com/linecorp/armeria/xds/TransportSocketSnapshot.java, CommonTlsContext handling installs TlsPeerVerifierFactory.noVerify() when validation_context is missing or lacks both trusted_ca and system_root_certs, and it also clears endpointIdentificationAlgorithm so hostname checks do not run. Reachability requires control of the network path or influence over xDS control-plane resources, after which affected clients accept arbitrary certificates on xDS-managed upstream TLS connections.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
