Sandboxed code execution via WebCodecs use-after-free
Published Jun 8, 2026 · Updated Jun 8, 2026
Use after free in WebCodecs in Google Chrome before 149.0.7827.103 allows remote attackers to execute code in the sandbox via crafted HTML. Google has not published the affected WebCodecs object, lifetime transition, or stale-reference operation because the Chromium issue remains restricted. A user must load attacker-controlled HTML; successful exploitation runs arbitrary code within Chrome's sandbox, with no documented sandbox escape.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
