Ex command execution via unescaped View filename
Published Jun 8, 2026 · Updated Jun 8, 2026
Command injection in Neovim 0.12.0 through 0.12.2 allows local users to execute Ex commands through a crafted filename. In vim.secure.read, the View branch appends the unescaped path to an sview command, so a pipe in the filename is parsed as an Ex command separator. Exploitation requires control of a local filename and selection of View at the trust prompt; injected Ex commands run with the Neovim process's access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
