Authenticated command execution via unquoted Mermaid path
Published Jun 7, 2026 · Updated Jun 7, 2026
Command injection in Foundation Agents MetaGPT 0.8.0 through 0.8.2 allows remote authenticated users to run commands via Mermaid configuration. The check_cmd_exists function concatenates mermaid.path into a shell command and passes it to os.system without quoting or validation. Remote authenticated users must first alter the configuration and trigger the nodejs Mermaid path; commands run with the MetaGPT process privileges.
