Authenticated root command execution via device parameter
Published Jun 7, 2026 · Updated Jun 7, 2026
Command injection in GL.iNet Beryl AX firmware 4.4.0 through 4.4.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The iwinfo.scan ubus method accepts a device string with type-only validation; mismatched substring and exact-name checks leave it unchanged before sprintf builds an iwpriv command that system() runs. Valid router credentials and network access to the /rpc endpoint are required, and injected shell metacharacters provide full root command execution.
