Arbitrary file creation via unsanitized display name
Published Jun 6, 2026 · Updated Jun 6, 2026
Path traversal in NEXT AI Lab PDF AI 4.21.0 for Android allows local users to create files in the app's private storage. The file-share handler uses an attacker-controlled ContentProvider _display_name as a child path, creates missing directories, and copies attacker-controlled bytes without normalization or containment checks. A zero-permission Android app can invoke exported activity aliases without user interaction; demonstrated impact is controlled file creation, not disclosure or confirmed overwrite of existing files.
