Authenticated file disclosure via symlink resolution
Published Jun 4, 2026 · Updated Jun 4, 2026
Path traversal in Hermes WebUI before 0.51.221 allows remote authenticated users to read host files through workspace APIs. The safe_resolve_ws helper resolves symlink targets but does not verify that the final path remains beneath the selected workspace root before list and read helpers use it. Exploitation requires a selected workspace containing an attacker-controlled or untrusted symlink, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process.
