Browser-process code execution via re-entrant tab closure
Published Jun 4, 2026 · Updated Jun 4, 2026
Use after free in Google Chrome TabStrip before 149.0.7827.53 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted HTML. MoveTabToIndexImpl retains a raw tab pointer across synchronous observer notification, allowing re-entrant closure to free it before IsPinned dereferences it. A user must open the page, and successful exploitation runs code in the browser process; the public issue reports no working proof of concept.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
