Sandboxed code execution via Media use-after-free
Published Jun 4, 2026 · Updated Jun 4, 2026
Use-after-free in Google Chrome Media before 149.0.7827.53 allows remote attackers to execute code in the browser sandbox via crafted video. Google identifies a freed-object lifetime error in Media, but the Chromium issue remains access-restricted and no public patch identifies the object or operation that reuses it. A user must open or process attacker-controlled video content; successful exploitation executes code within Chrome's sandbox, with no published sandbox escape for this flaw.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
