Stored XSS via unescaped settings fields

Published Jan 24, 2026 · Updated Jan 24, 2026

Stored XSS in Cookie consent for developers 1.7.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via settings. The settings registration path stores multiple administrator-supplied values without sufficient sanitization, and the display template renders them without output escaping. Administrator access is required, and execution is limited to multisite installations or sites with unfiltered_html disabled when a user opens an injected page.
