Authenticated service interruption via unbounded GIF frames
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Denial of service in Mattermost Server allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service via a crafted animated GIF custom emoji. The custom-emoji upload path processes animated GIFs without limiting frame count or enforcing the file-size cap, allowing resource use to grow with crafted content. Any authenticated user permitted to upload custom emoji can cause a service-wide availability loss; the published record reports no data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.11.0 <=10.11.20
- Affected versionversion=11.6.0 <=11.6.5
- Affected versionversion=11.7.0 <=11.7.4
