Unauthenticated shortcode execution via dynamic block expansion
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Stored shortcode injection in Reviews Feed before 2.6.5 allows remote attackers to execute registered shortcodes through Google review text. The dynamic block passes cached review text through wp_kses_post, which preserves shortcode brackets, before WordPress expands its output with do_shortcode. Exploitation requires a configured Google feed displayed through the Gutenberg block and a source where the attacker can post a public review; the classic shortcode path is unaffected.
