Arbitrary installer execution via substring package matching
Published Jun 17, 2026 · Updated Jun 17, 2026
Incorrect package correlation in Devolutions UniGetUI 2026.2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute an unrelated installer. The Pinget backend treats a normalized catalog package name as a substring match against an installed application name, binding unrelated packages. Exploitation requires control of a WinGet community catalog entry and user approval of the proposed update, after which the attacker-controlled installer runs with the user's package-installation privileges.
