Provisioning denial via invalid-link watchdog resets
Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026
Denial of service in Zephyr RTOS 3.5.0 through 4.4.1 allows remote attackers to block Bluetooth Mesh provisioning over BLE. PB-ADV prov_msg_recv() resets the protocol watchdog before rejecting an invalidated link, so repeated FCS-valid PDUs prevent timeout cleanup. The attack requires BLE advertising-channel proximity but no authentication or pairing; it blocks provisioning and re-provisioning without affecting confidentiality or integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
