CVE-2026-10674

System crash via premature LPUART clock disable

Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026

Denial of service in the NXP LPUART driver in Zephyr RTOS 2.5.0 through 4.4.1 allows local users to crash the system via uart_configure. mcux_lpuart_configure calls LPUART_Deinit before validating caller-controlled UART settings, so an unsupported value leaves peripheral clocks disabled. Exploitation requires CONFIG_UART_USE_RUNTIME_CONFIGURE and an unprivileged userspace thread with LPUART device access; the next register access triggers a hard fault.
