Authenticated command execution via crafted archive filenames
Published Jan 17, 2026 · Updated Jan 17, 2026
Command injection in KodBox 1.61.0 through 1.61.10 allows remote authenticated users to execute server commands through online compression. The zip endpoint passes attacker-controlled filenames containing backtick shell substitutions to IOArchive::zip without neutralizing command syntax. Normal-account access with permission to upload, rename, and compress a file is sufficient, and successful exploitation runs arbitrary commands under the web server account.
