Adjacent memory corruption via post-send packet dereference
Published Jun 16, 2026 · Updated Jun 16, 2026
Use-after-free in Zephyr Project Zephyr RTOS 3.3.0 through 4.4.0 allows remote attackers on the local link to corrupt memory or crash devices. IPv6 Neighbor Discovery send paths call net_pkt_iface after net_send_data releases the packet, then dereference its freed interface pointer while updating per-interface ICMP statistics. Native IPv6 and CONFIG_NET_STATISTICS_PER_INTERFACE must be enabled; an unauthenticated on-link node can reach the flaw with a Neighbor Solicitation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
