Remote crash via post-send interface dereference
Published Jun 16, 2026 · Updated Jun 16, 2026
Use-after-free in the ICMPv6 networking path in Zephyr RTOS allows remote attackers to crash devices via crafted IPv6 traffic. After net_try_send_data() takes ownership and can free a packet, two ICMPv6 handlers call net_pkt_iface() on it to update statistics. A network-reachable build with CONFIG_NET_NATIVE_IPV6 is exposed; per-interface statistics converts the stale interface read into a pointer write, so impact also includes memory corruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
