Path traversal in Grafana OSS allows remote authenticated users with Viewer access to reach unintended backend endpoints. The Tempo and Loki data source plugins interpolate user-controlled values into backend URL paths without sanitization, allowing traversal beyond intended routes. Reachability requires Viewer permissions and a configured Loki or Tempo backend; consequences include credential exposure, internal-response disclosure, or backend administrative actions.
