Stored XSS via predictable minifier placeholders
Published Jul 13, 2026 · Updated Jul 13, 2026
Stored XSS in Cloudways Breeze before 2.5.6 allows remote attackers to inject HTML attributes through public WordPress comments. The HTML minifier uses SHA-512 hashes of the current time in protected-content placeholders, and its regular-expression replacement accepts attacker-predicted placeholder text from a comment. Exploitation requires HTML minification, which is disabled by default, plus open comments and approval or disabled moderation; viewing the resulting post executes injected script in the visitor's browser.
