Administrator-level stored XSS via unescaped welcomeMessage
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Stored XSS in the TalkJS plugin for WordPress 0.1.15 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through admin settings. SettingsPage::saveFields stores the welcomeMessage value, and FieldBuilder emits it into a textarea without esc_textarea output encoding. Administrator privileges are required, and exposure is limited to multisite installations or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled; the script executes when an affected page loads.
