Unauthenticated command execution via Bash blocklist bypass
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
OS command injection in zhayujie CowAgent 2.0.0 through 2.0.8 allows remote attackers to execute commands through the web agent's Bash tool. The Bash tool's _get_safety_warning method checks only ten exact strings before execute passes the LLM-selected command to subprocess.run with shell=True and no sandbox. Exploitation requires agent mode, a working LLM configuration, and a reachable unauthenticated /message endpoint; commands run with the CowAgent process's privileges.
