Authenticated device crash via oversized MAC field
Published May 31, 2026 · Updated May 31, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda W12 3.0.0.7(4763) allows remote authenticated users to crash the device via a crafted request. The cgiWifiMacFilterSet handler in /bin/httpd copies a wifiMacFilterSet.macList.mac value longer than 512 bytes into the fixed WifiMacList stack buffer, overwriting adjacent data. A low-privilege authenticated session can reach the JSON parser; the demonstrated consequence is a device crash, while code execution remains unproven.
