Denial of service in kafka-python before 2.3.2 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to exhaust client memory or hang connections. KafkaProtocol accepts a broker-supplied 4-byte frame length and allocates the receive buffer without first enforcing a maximum, while malformed values can leave the connection broken. Reachability requires a malicious broker or an interceptable broker connection; affected consumers can stop heartbeating and remain stalled until restart.
