Author-level defacement via unchecked style object key
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Authorization bypass in Qode Interactive Qi Blocks 1.4.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter site styles. The global-styles REST endpoint accepts the user-controlled page_id key and writes stored styles without verifying ownership of the referenced post, template, or widget. The built-in Author role passes the generic edit_posts and publish_posts permission callback, allowing frontend defacement, content hiding, or page degradation, including site-wide template and widget changes.
