Authenticated code execution via unbounded Date copy
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Shibby Tomato 1.28 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted UPS Date field. The get_ups_field function in tomatodata.cgi copies the Date field returned by a configured UPS endpoint into a fixed-size stack buffer without enforcing its length. Low-privileged access and control of the UPS response are required; resulting stack corruption can crash the CGI process or redirect execution.
