Crash via unchecked SOME/IP-SD option count
Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Wireshark 4.4.0 through 4.4.12 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.2 allows remote attackers to crash the application. The SOME/IP-SD dissector's dissect_someip_sd_pdu_options() loop trusts an options-length field and writes past the 271-entry option_ports array. Triggering requires injection of a malformed packet onto monitored traffic or user interaction with a crafted trace file, resulting in termination of Wireshark or TShark.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
