CVE-2026-0940

Privileged code execution via improper firmware initialization

Published Mar 11, 2026 · Updated Mar 11, 2026

Improper initialization in Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 Gen 1 and Gen 2 BIOS allows local privileged users to modify data and execute arbitrary code. Lenovo has not disclosed the affected firmware component, the state left uninitialized, or the operation that subsequently consumes that state. Exploitation requires an already privileged local user; affected firmware extends through 1.76 on Gen 1 and through 1.37 on Gen 2.
