UI spoofing via inactive-tab file picker
Published Jan 20, 2026 · Updated Jan 20, 2026
Incorrect security UI in Split View in Google Chrome before 144.0.7559.59 allows remote attackers to spoof site attribution via crafted HTML. An inactive Split View tab can open a system file picker, so the browser-mediated dialog appears without clear attribution to the site that triggered it. A crafted HTML page must be loaded in a split tab; the flaw can mislead a user about which site is requesting access to local files.
