Private release disclosure via stale watch subscriptions
Published Jan 22, 2026 · Updated Jan 23, 2026
Improper access control in Gitea 1.25.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to receive private release details by email. The repository privacy transition leaves existing watch records intact, and release mail generation sends notices without rechecking repository access. Recipients must have watched the repository before it became private; disclosure is limited to emailed release titles, tags, and content.
