Unauthorized account actions via webpack path injection
Published Feb 25, 2026 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Cross-site scripting in GitLab CE/EE 16.2 through 18.7.4, 18.8.0 through 18.8.4, and 18.9.0 allows remote attackers to run scripts. The Mermaid sandbox reads relativeRootPath without validation and assigns it to webpack's public path, allowing protocol-relative URLs to load attacker-hosted chunks. Exploitation requires user interaction and a same-origin postMessage trigger; successful execution can perform actions as the authenticated victim.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=16.2 <18.7.5
