Code execution via GIF parser stack overflow
Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in GIF parsing in Autodesk 3ds Max 2026 before 2026.3.2 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted GIF file. The GIF parser writes attacker-controlled file data beyond a stack buffer, but Autodesk has not identified the affected function or field. A user must open or import the file, after which code runs with the privileges of the current 3ds Max process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
