Code execution via crafted GIF parsing
Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Autodesk 3ds Max 2026 allows attackers to execute code by inducing a user to open a crafted GIF file. The GIF parser writes beyond a stack buffer while processing attacker-controlled file data, but Autodesk has not disclosed the affected function or field. Successful exploitation requires user interaction and runs arbitrary code in the context and with the privileges of the current 3ds Max process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
