Local privilege escalation via configuration buffer overwrite
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Android kernel allows local users to escalate privileges through malformed gf_ta_test configuration data. The gf_ta_test_set_config function in gf_ta_test.c inadequately validates configuration input before writing beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires local access, needs no user interaction or additional execution privileges, and can elevate the attacking process.
