Local privilege escalation via incorrect MFC bounds check
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Android kernel MFC component allows local users to escalate privileges without user interaction. The mfc_dec_dqbuf function in mfc_dec_v4l2.c applies an incorrect bounds check while processing a decoder dequeue-buffer operation, permitting a write beyond the intended buffer. Local access to the affected MFC driver is required, and successful exploitation grants elevated privileges without prior execution privileges.
